The City of Dallas is honored to host the first-ever South Central Climate Resilience Forum and to welcome our partners from across the region. The City of Dallas is committed to realizing a more resilient and equitable future. In 2018, for example, the City council adopted Resilient Dallas to build community resilience towards handling social, economic, and environmental shocks and stressors.  In 2020, the City council adopted the Comprehensives Environmental and Climate Action Plan (CECAP) to create a healthier and more equitable community by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preparing for the impacts of climate change, improving environmental quality, and advancing environmental justice.  In 2022, City council adopted the Racial Equity Plan to address racial and ethnic disparities, including those related to climate resilience and environmental justice.

The Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP) is one of several NOAA Climate Adaptation Partnerships (formerly RISA) teams across the U.S. Founded in 2008, SCIPP assists organizations and decision makers across the south-central U.S. with building resilience by collaboratively producing research, tools, and knowledge that reduce weather and climate risks and impacts. We work closely with practitioners and researchers across the region to investigate changing climatic conditions, understand needs in planning and implementation processes, facilitate information exchange, and produce knowledge that can help address weather- and climate-related challenges. We also collaborate with state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations, professional associations, and more through our research and engagement. Our interdisciplinary team has expertise in topics related to climatology, meteorology, climate adaptation, political science, public administration, business, geography, environmental justice, and sociology.
